This course is divided into two aspects
1. The diversity of non chordates: which deals with the classification, taxonomy and description of various animals in the Kingdom Animalia. The taxonomic classification is done up to the the class level with a representative species being described in detail from each class. The general body plan of each Phylum is elaborated in detail and details of specialized structures are also described.

2. Cell Biology: which deals with the general organization of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, their differences and characteristics. The various cells organelles such as the nucleus, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, etc are dealt with in detail. Additionally, the development of a normal cell to a cancerous state is also described in detail.
