Roger Bacon rightly said “Knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom”. Language is the very core of one’s expressive self. More the knowledge of languages, better is the communication. In our college, we offer three languages: Konkani Honours & General, Marathi General & Hindi General. We have well qualified and dedicated staff who have also presented papers at the State, National and International level as well. 6 Faculty have either authored/compiled or edited 11 books to our credit. We have ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Mandal’ (Indian Literary Association) under whose auspices we organize many Cultural and Academic programmes all through the year with a view to boost the language and unlease the hidden talents of the students. A student graduating in these languages can choose a variety of careers: Noble profession of Teaching from KG to PG level, can engage private coaching classes, journalism-Print as well as Electronic media, Big FM 92.7, can do freelancing, creative writing and translation, designing of Advertisements and brochures, projects of Lexicography, Projects from National Book Trust, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, Goa Konkani Academi can be availed of in the works of children literature, translation etc. The Department successfully conducts One Career Oriented Skill Enhancement  Course: a Short term Course in Typying in Devanagari ‘Mangal’ font-Unicode. Students have won many prizes in the field of Creative writing, quizzes and performance arts. The Department also organises programmes of Inter-disciplinary approach. Have jointly collaborated with the Department of History, English, Physics, Computer Science. Most recent collaboration was again with the Department of Computer Science– a step towards successful implementation of National Education Policy (NEP)-‘Audiopustakam’- an inauguration of a website and Audio books in Konkani from Std. I to Std. IV were released to facilitate remedial teaching of students and students with disabilities.

Significance of Course: Through this course, students were able to type in Devanagari script flawlessly so that they can type their assignments and projects . They can even take typing projects as a side business.
