Equal opportunity cell in association with Department of Botany organised an outreach program on ‘mushroom cultivation training’ under DBT star college scheme at Department of Botany of the college on 26th 2024. Total 13 participants joined and completed the training program. Dr. Ashish Prabhugaonkar was the resource person.

The training programm formally started in Botany Department of Dhempe College of Arts and Science on at 10.00 am. with welcome note for joining the training program followed by
an introductory lecture on introduction to fungi, spawn preparation and mushroom cultivation. After the lecture participants performed hands on to acquire laboratory skills
required for working with fungi. Hands on training started with spawn preparation and sterilization of paddy straw followed by inoculation of mushroom spawn, filling of the bags
of oyster mushroom, milky white mushroom and Ganoderma. Course Outcomes : Participants were trained in basic skills required to work in mycology such as sterilization, aseptic handling, preparation of mushroom spawn and the techniques of growing mushrooms like oyster, milky white and Ganoderma.

Equal opportunity cell of DCT’s Dhempe College of Arts and Science conducted an activity to promote the small business of people who are belonging to ST community. Vegetable sellers who grow vegetables in their own field were invited to sell vegetables in the college on 12th January, 2024. Two ladies from Raia, Salcete Mrs. Maria Quadros and Ms. Jose Gauncar had come to college along with their vegetables like Tambdi bhaji, Dhavi bhaji, Mullo and Vaali bhaji. The sale of the vegetables was very good as the staff and students from college extended their hand to buy vegetables.
