Message From Our Principal
Welcome to DCT’s Dhempe College of Arts and Science! As you navigate through various corners of our website, it is my pleasure to share my thoughts with you as the current Principal of the institution.
The education sector, as you may know, has undergone paradigm shifts in the last few years. The pandemic challenged us in a way that no unprecedented event had done before. Furthermore, the deluge of information through various online media, the intervention of educational technology and the advent of easy-access AI tools fascinate as well as disconcert us every single day. These changes have made us reassess our roles as teachers and redefine our positions as institutes of higher learning.
At Dhempe College, we have fostered a culture of facing every predicament with preparedness and optimism. As one of the pioneering HEI in the state of Goa post-liberation, we have looked at education as a pivotal tool of empowerment and stayed true to this fundamental belief envisioned by our founders. Therefore, our strength has been in our ability to adapt to new situations while remaining steadfast in our core function: to provide accessible and cutting-edge education aimed at strengthening intellectual pursuits and advancing social growth.
Our BA, BSc and MSc programmes are designed to provide upgraded knowledge to students. In alignment with the vision of NEP 2020, however, we offer courses which are interdisciplinary in nature. We also offer skill development courses in niche areas to equip students with enhanced employability. Year after year, our students have showcased stellar performance at the University examinations securing top positions in their respective disciplines as well as excelling in ranking/entrance tests for postgraduate studies. Facilitating students’ progression to higher learning in some of the best universities of the world, is thus, one of our nodal competencies. We also ensure that our SDCs are crafted to provide value-added skills to our learners. As a result, many of our alumni are today placed in prestigious positions world-over.
Our college has a proactive Institution’s Innovation Council which conducts regular programmes to promote entrepreneurship. Therefore, many of our alumni have also become entrepreneurs who have generated employment in society.
At Dhempe College, we believe in providing a wholesome academic experience to students. As such, rather than being confined to the narrow limits of ‘prescribed’ learning, we encourage students to innovate, tap into their personal potential and hone it. Students receive guidance in sports, cultural programmes, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Trained thus, they have secured several accolades and recognitions at international, national and state level events.
We recognize that each student faces unique challenges either academically or otherwise, which may hamper their performance and long-term growth. To address this pivotal issue, we have developed a strong Mentoring and Counselling programme to facilitate one-on-one interaction between mentors and students. Through these interactions, mentors are able to gauge the obstacles faced by students and address them appropriately in the best interest of the learner.
As a summation of all this (and much more which remains unsaid) stands the unparalleled Dhempe experience. Every day, our corridors beam with the hopes and aspirations of hundreds of learners who enter the campus. Every day, we are grateful for the trust they place in us to help in turning their dreams into reality. Every day, we strive to be better, for their sake.
