Department of History
The department was established with the inception of the college in 1962 . It offers six units history at the T.Y.B.A. level and the curriculum prescribed by the Goa University is taught at the undergraduate level . In addition , the staff members conduct a variety of activities for their students like workshops , talks by renowned scholars , educational trips to historical sites , heritage walks and trails, visits to museums etc. Pursuit of knowledge has involved our faculty in research and publication . A U.G.C. sponsored minor Research Project on Goan History has been sanctioned to Ms Vrishali Prabhugaunkar . Mr. Prajal Sakhardande , a heritage activist is a contributor to various magazines and newspapers and is actively involved in research on Goan history . The History —History Forum under the guidance of Mr.Prajal Sakhardande organizes a number of activities.
Our students have excelled in academics and extra-curricular activities . They have won accolades at various state level competitions , Quizes etc . Our alumni are gainfully employed in various sectors of administration , education , tourism etc… ..
Non Conventional courses like Introduction to Museology, Numismatics and Conservation and Introduction to Ancient Indian Numismatics have been conducted by the department. It also conducts an Internship Prgramme for T Y BA students at the Goa State Museum Panaji.
