Economics Students Felicitated at GDP Foundation Annual Awards 2026
The TYBA Students of the Department of Economics, Mr. Darryl Felipe Luke D’Souza and Ms. Jyoti Sharma, were felicitated during the GDP Foundation Annual Awards 2026, held on 24th July 2026 at the S.V. Hall of DCT’s Dhempe College (Autonomous), Miramar. The event celebrated innovation, entrepreneurship, and applied social research while recognising the successful completion of internship projects undertaken by students of DCT’s Dhempe College (Autonomous).
The students were recognised for successfully completing the Police Welfare Campus Development Internship (Research) under the GDP School for Social Entrepreneurship, Skill Building and Applied Social Research, an initiative of the GDP Foundation. The internship was undertaken under the guidance of Dr. Shilpa Samant (Associate Professor, Economics) and the supervision of Mr. Kishore Shah, Managing Trustee, GDP Foundation.
As part of the internship, the students undertook a research-based feasibility study for the proposed Police Welfare Campus in Goa. The project involved stakeholder consultations, field interactions, policy reviews, and analytical research to examine opportunities for strengthening police welfare through entrepreneurship, livelihood generation, skill development, community participation, and institutional collaboration. The study proposed an integrated and sustainable model aimed at supporting police personnel, retired officers, police families, Self-Help Groups, and other stakeholders.
During the awards ceremony, all internship teams from the Departments of Economics and Philosophy were presented with the Best Internship Award in recognition of the successful completion of their respective research projects and their contributions towards applied research and community-oriented development initiatives.
