The Department of Zoology, Dhempe College of Arts & Science, organized a field trip to Carambolim Lake on 17th January 2026 as part of a training exercise for the Asian Waterbird Census (AWC) and the Citizen Science Programme.
The field visit aimed to provide hands-on exposure to students in basic bird identification, observation techniques, and understanding key parameters used in waterbird census activities. The session was organized by AERO, led by Ms. Harshada Gawas and Dr. Pranoy Baidya, who guided the students through practical aspects of field ornithology and citizen science participation.
Students of FY Major Zoology actively participated in the exercise, accompanied by faculty member Mr. Abhed Suresh. The field trip proved to be an enriching learning experience, enhancing students’ observational skills and awareness about wetland biodiversity and conservation.
