rom classroom diagrams to real rocks in the field. 🌍⛏️
31 students from the Department of Geology, DCT’s Dhempe College of Arts & Science, Miramar, visited Harvalem Caves and Waterfalls for a field study accompanied by Dr. Raghav Gadgil. Students observed laterite caves with BHQ clasts, an abandoned iron ore exposure with biscuity ore and blue dust, and measured folded BHQ layers, strike and dip. At Arvalem waterfall, the Kudne River follows the axial plane of an anticline forming a hairpin bend and waterfall near the Rudreshwar Temple, beautifully exposing folded rocks.
Field visits like these transform geology from textbook theory into real landscapes, helping students read the history written in rocks.
